Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2026 Preview & Expectations

|

|

Magic Kingdom switches into full Christmas mode tonight as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party opens its 2026 season. The classic Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Minnie’s fireworks, and free cookies all return, joined by a brand-new Stitch dance party and a few character shake-ups. Tonight is sold out, and so is most of the season. If past seasons are any guide, it will also be one of the shortest-wait nights at Magic Kingdom all year. Here’s our preview of what we expect this year at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2026 Preview: Shows, Wait Times, and What We Expect

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • What the party is, what tickets cost, and which nights still have tickets.
  • Tonight’s showtimes, what’s new for 2026, and the character lineup.
  • Three seasons of wait-time data, our predictions, and three game plans for the night.

What Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is the separately ticketed Christmas event at Magic Kingdom. Party guests get access to the park after it closes to day guests. The ticket covers an exclusive(ish) parade, a holiday fireworks show, castle stage shows, holiday ride overlays, and complimentary cookies and drinks. Our Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party guide has every date, plus links to all of this season’s coverage so far.

Disney scheduled 25 party nights this year, starting tonight and ending on Tuesday, December 22nd. Jollywood Nights is built around stage shows, dance parties, and cocktail lounges, while Very Merry is built around Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, and some attraction overlays. Every 2025 date had sold out by November 19th, and tonight’s party sold out back in October.

I’d imagine you’ve already purchased a ticket if you plan on going, so this article is less about getting people off the fence and more about setting our expectations for guests who are attending this year.

Party Hours & Ticket Prices

The party is open from 7:00pm to midnight, but party guests can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00pm, and the park closes to day guests at 6:00pm on event nights. Party guests share the park with day guests until then, which makes it a good time to grab dinner, do some shopping, or knock out a ride or two before the party starts.

Ticket prices are set by date, from $189 to $229 per person plus tax, and kids ages 3 to 9 save $10 on every date. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members save $10 on 11 dates in November and early December, and the other 14 dates have no discount.

When we checked this morning, 20 of the 25 nights had sold out. November 29th was the last Passholder discount night left, and it’s gone now too. Only five December nights remain, all priced between $219 and $229:

Shows and Entertainment

Entertainment is a strong reason to buy a Very Merry ticket, especially if your trip is before Christmas week. Disney posted the showtimes for the whole season last month, and the schedule stays the same every night:

  • Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade: 8:30pm and 11:00pm
Gingerbread men, toy soldiers, ballroom dancers, and characters on holiday floats travel from Frontierland to Main Street USA, with Santa Claus at the end.
  • Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks: 10:00pm
Minnie hosts the show, and Cinderella Castle is covered in holiday projections.
  • Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration: 7:40pm, 9:25pm, 10:35pm, and 11:55pm
On the castle stage, with Mickey, Clarabelle Cow, Daisy Duck, and Woody.
  • Frozen Holiday Surprise: 6:15pm and 8:15pm
On the castle stage, with Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and the snowgies.
  • Stitchmas! Dance Party: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafรฉ
    7pm to 12am

Day guests get a special early look at the parade this week, with two 2:00pm performances on November 10th and 11th for the ABC holiday special taping.

If you’re visiting Christmas week, you can see a good chunk of this without a party ticket. The My Disney Experience app already lists Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks at 8:00pm for all Magic Kingdom guests from December 23rd through 29th, in place of Happily Ever After. Disney hasn’t posted Christmas week times for the parade yet, but it has been shown for day guests after the final party in past years, and we expect the same this year.

What’s New for 2026

The biggest addition is Stitchmas! Dance Party, an indoor dance party at Cosmic Ray’s hosted by Lilo and Stitch. It takes over the space where Disney Jr. Jingle Jam played last year. Stitch hosted a masquerade at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this fall. Now he has a dance party at both of Magic Kingdom’s hard-ticket events.

Beyond Stitch, here’s what else is new:

  • Winnie the Pooh & Friends: They move to Storybook Circus for the party, joining Santa’s Christmas Carnival. Disney hasn’t said exactly where they’ll meet guests.
  • Food: The full menu has 14 new items, and most are party-only. Many are desserts, like the Holiday Brownie Sundae at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, the Minnie Cocoa Cake at Casey’s Corner, and the Pluto Reindeer Cake at Pecos Bill. Savory picks include the party-only Mongolian Beef Bao at Sleepy Hollow and Mussels Mariniรจre at Be Our Guest. The new sandwiches and Red Velvet Cheesecake at The Plaza Restaurant are also sold to day guests through January 2nd.
  • Merchandise: Disney previewed five exclusive pieces in red, green, and peppermint colors: a pullover, two T-shirts, an ear headband, an ornament, and a magnet picture frame. They’re sold at the Emporium to guests with a party wristband, and prices haven’t been announced.

2026 Character Lineup

Disney has announced a handful of character meets so far, and the rest should show up on the party map tonight. Check back with us later for a full rundown of character meet-and-greet locations when we know more!

Announced locations:

  • Town Square Theater: Jack Skellington dressed as Santa, Sally, and Mickey and Minnie in holiday outfits
  • Princess Fairytale Hall: Anna and Elsa
  • Storybook Circus: Santa at Santa’s Christmas Carnival, near Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Barnstormer, plus Winnie the Pooh & Friends
  • Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafรฉ: Lilo and Stitch, hosting Stitchmas!

Very Merry Christmas Party Wait Times From 2023 to 2025

These numbers come from Thrill Data and show the average wait across every attraction on party nights. We left TRON Lightcycle Run out of the 2023 figures, since the ride still used a virtual queue that season.

YearAverage WaitLightest NightBusiest Night
202315 min12 min19 min
202415 min13 min17 min
202514 min10 min16 min
  • The park-wide, season-long average has stayed between 14 and 15 minutes for three straight seasons
  • The busiest night of both 2024 and 2025 fell during Thanksgiving week.
  • Opening night has averaged 13 to 15 minutes, right in line with the rest of the season.

Here’s how the bigger rides compared to a regular day:

Attraction2023202420252025 Regular Day
TRON Lightcycle RunVirtual queue64 min33 min68 min
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train40 min31 min28 min61 min

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh14 min12 min16 min43 min
Astro Orbiter14 min9 min6 min25 min
Pirates of the Caribbean10 min7 min5 min30 min

The longest line of the 2025 party wasn’t a ride at all. Cinderella and a visiting princess averaged 51 minutes at their meet, and the Halloween Town friends averaged 28 minutes. Party wait times tend to peak between 7:00pm and 8:00pm, right when the party kicks off. They generally taper off from there as guests get distracted by entertainment and other offerings that don’t register a traditional wait time.

Our Expectations

TRON is the ride to watch tonight. Its party average fell by half from 2024 to 2025, and it still had the longest ride wait last season. Jingle Cruise is the other one to plan around. It had the second-longest ride wait last season at 29 minutes. Since Jingle Cruise is also open during regular park hours, skip it during party nights if you have another Magic Kingdom day this trip.

The My Disney Experience app lists 21 attractions with party hours tonight, including Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Haunted Mansion. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is closed for its first major refurbishment and isn’t scheduled to reopen until December 18th.

Predictions for tonight:

  • TRON Lightcycle Run: 30 to 45 minutes early, around 20 after 11:00pm
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: 30 to 40 minutes early, under 20 after 11:00pm
  • Jingle Cruise: 25 to 35 minutes
  • Peter Pan’s Flight: 20 to 30 minutes
  • Space Mountain: 15 to 25 minutes
  • Haunted Mansion and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: 10 to 15 minutes
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin: 10 minutes or under for most of the night. Buzz could be slightly longer
  • Jack Skellington and Sally: 30 minutes or more for most of the night

Three Game Plans for the Night

There’s no way to see everything in five hours, so we put together three plans for the night. The first puts the parade, fireworks, and castle shows first. Our second plan is built around rides and character meets and uses the wait data above to dodge the longest lines, and the third splits the difference.

If entertainment is your priority, this is how we’d lay out the night:

  • 4:00pm: Head in early to pick up your wristband, and grab an early dinner.
  • 6:15pm: Frozen Holiday Surprise on the castle stage.
  • 7:00pm: Start collecting free cookies as the party officially kicks off.
  • 7:40pm: Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration.
  • 8:30pm: The first Once Upon a Christmastime parade.
  • 9:25pm: Stitchmas! at Cosmic Ray’s, and/or a visit to Santa’s Christmas Carnival in Storybook Circus
  • 10:00pm: Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks. It’ll be crowded, so arrive early if you want a good spot.
  • 11:00pm: The second parade, then stay put for the final Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration at 11:55pm.

For rides and characters, flip the night around and use the shows as cover from crowds:

  • 4:00pm: Get in line for Jack Skellington and Sally at Town Square Theater before the party starts. The Halloween Town friends averaged 28 minutes last year. You’ll wait more at “rope drop”, but it’s non-party time, and they usually begin meeting early.
  • 6:00pm: Santa or Winnie the Pooh and Friends. Both in Storybook Circus.
  • 7:00pm: Other characters or short-wait rides until closer to the first parade. Perhaps even a cookie stroll.
  • 8:30pm: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan’s Flight while the first parade pulls crowds to the route.
  • 9:25pm: Anna and Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall. Last year’s princess meet there had the longest average wait of the party, at 51 minutes.
  • 10:00pm: TRON Lightcycle Run and Space Mountain during the fireworks.
  • 11:00pm: Jingle Cruise during the second parade, unless you have another Magic Kingdom day this trip.
  • 11:30pm: Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad until midnight.

The attractions plan gives up the parade, fireworks, and castle shows. That’s an easier trade if you’re also visiting Christmas week, when the fireworks are already on the schedule for day guests. If you’d otherwise not see the parade or fireworks during another visit, we’d recommend working them into your night with a little more “balanced” plan. Here’s a final plan that gives entertainment more room, while leaving time for rides that are busy during the day:

  • 4:00pm: Dinner, or aforementioned Jack/Sally, Pooh, Santa meet-and-greets if you’re not hungry or already ate.
  • 6:15pm: Frozen Holiday Surprise.
  • 7:40pm: Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration.
  • 8:30pm: The first Christmastime parade. It’ll be busy; it always is.
  • 9:15pm: Stitchmas! at Cosmic Ray’s, then Space Mountain if the wait time is 20 minutes or lower.
  • 10:00pm: Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks.
  • 10:30pm: TRON Lightcycle Run, right after the fireworks. Feel free to replace with other attractions/meets. Might even be a decent time for a cookie stroll.
  • 11:00pm: Jingle Cruise or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train during the second parade. Alternatively, check out the second parade in Frontierland or Liberty Square for lower crowds if crowds during the first parade scared you away (I don’t blame you).
  • 11:30pm: One last ride on Pirates of the Caribbean or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad before the party ends at midnight.

A Classic Tradition With a Few New Twists

Two years ago, our 2024 Very Merry preview asked: when does tradition become stale? Merchandise was the only new piece Disney listed that year, and the party felt like a repeat for anyone who goes every season. Returning guests have slightly more to look forward to this year. Stitchmas!, a new spot for Pooh and friends, and 14 new menu items are all part of this year’s party. The core of the night is the same, and, honestly, that’s the point for a lot of families.

In our Jollywood Nights preview, we called that party the “Disney Adult” holiday event and said Very Merry is still the pick for families who want a parade, fireworks, and more “classic” experiences. Very Merry is the more traditional night, with a parade that ends with Santa and fireworks over a castle covered in Christmas projections.

The holiday ride overlays are a big part of that, too. Our 2019 review covered the holiday versions of Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Speedway, and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor in their first season, and called Space Mountain “a real winner.” We still think it’s the best overlay of the bunch. They’re all back this year, along with Mad Tea Party and Jingle Cruise. The free cookies are back too, and the Buttercream-Frosted Chocolate Chip Cookie at Cosmic Ray’s topped our 2025 cookie ranking.

While the party feels stale to us, as regulars, it is loaded with charm for guests who have never experienced it. Our evening tonight will be a rinse and repeat from previous years. Jollywood Nights still has some novelty for us this year, but Very Merry, at this point, is stale. Again (or still).
