TSA Bans “Thermal Detonator” Souvenir Coke Bottles Purchased from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

The TSA has stated that the souvenir “thermal detonator” Coca-Cola bottles guests can purchase in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge are not allowed on flights.

The official Ask TSA twitter account confirmed that “replica and inert explosives” aren’t allowed either as a carry-on or checked item. The OC Register clarified with the TSA that the souvenir bottles could cause confusion for TSA agents at the airport and that they were not allowed per TSA guidelines.

UPDATE: Many people have noted that taking off the decorative cap could allow you to take the souvenir bottle on board. That’s not the case, according to the TSA.

“Even with a normal bottle cap, this item is still considered a replica and is not allowed in carry-on or checked bags. If our officers discover a replica item during screening and believe it’s real, the item will be treated as such until advised otherwise by law enforcement.”

While you won’t be able to take home these souvenir bottles, the TSA does say that your $200 lightsaber from Savi’s Workshop will be allowed to fly just fine.
