Latest Aerial Photos of EPCOT Future World Demolition

While we’ve recently provided an overview of the demolition taking place in Future World at EPCOT, @bioreconstruct took it one step further and took aerial photos of the latest work.

As you might know, Future World in EPCOT is quite the construction zone right now, with the central “EPCOT Spine” completely blocked off to guests. This is needed to completely demolish Innoventions West to create Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana, the World Celebration Festival Center, Dreamers Point, and more.

In this post, we’ll take a look at some of the demolition from the aerial photos and what it looks like to guests on the ground. Let’s take a look around!

This first angle is from over World Showcase Lagoon looking towards Future World and Spaceship Earth. As a reminder, Spaceship Earth is scheduled to close in May for refurbishment.

From the angle seen in the photo above, perhaps the most notable thing is the demolition of the Club Cool and Character Spot building. We’ll take a closer look at that in a bit.

The next photo is taken from west of the park, looking towards Spaceship Earth and the massive Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind building. The Cosmic Rewind building has a volume four times that of Spaceship Earth.

Here’s a closer look at the Innoventions West demolition.

Finally, here’s a reverse angle of the demolition, taken from above the EPCOT parking lot, looking south.

If the angle was from the west side of Spaceship Earth, it would be similar to the concept art below that shows Dreamers Point, Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana, and the World Showcase Festival Center.

Here’s a look at the current EPCOT map that shows the scope of the demolition, represented by green space.

  1. Does anyone know how the demolition of the fountain of nation affected the tunnels and stage lifts that ran under future world/comminicore areas?
