US Has Busiest Pandemic-Era Travel Day as Crowds Build to Easter Peak

According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), over 1.4 million people passed through their checkpoints yesterday – a pandemic-era high. To find that many people traveling in one day, you’d have to go back to March 15, 2020 when 1.5 million people traveled.

TSA data still shows that travel is still roughly 40-50% lower than in 2019, but the Orlando International Airport (MCO) expects a peak in travel to occur on Easter Sunday, April 4th. When compared to travel last Spring Break, which was depressed due to COVID-19 related restrictions as the virus took hold in the United States, MCO will see a 45% jump in year-over-year visitors.

At Walt Disney World, the theme parks have consistently hit their modified operating capacity for over a week now.
