As if an abandoned construction site and removal from press releases wasn’t enough of a sign that the Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge Disney Vacation Club project was shuttered, Disney has recently filed permits to remove multiple construction trailer offices associated with the project.

Construction trailers for multiple third-party businesses were installed on the former STOLport site on World Drive to support the Reflections project. A permit that we tracked back in early 2019 showed the connection between STOLport and the Reflections project. It was likely much easier to have the offices near a main roadway and build out a construction road than to tuck them at the back of the Fort Wilderness property where the hotel was going.

Now, those construction trailers are slated for removal according to a permit filed with the state of Florida – likely signaling the final nail in the coffin for the project. A rumor began circulating last June that the project was cancelled or postponed, not unheard of in the months after Walt Disney World ceased all operations due to COVID-19. Two months after that rumor surfaced, Disney removed references to the project from their official press releases – trying to scrub the project from memory. Shortly thereafter, heavy construction machinery was removed from the site as it became clear that the rumors were coming true.

Now, with the removal of the support trailers, it seems like the project has been abandoned. While the long-closed River Country water park was demolished as part of the early work on this project, it seems like it will sit bare for now as Disney goes back to the drawing board for this prime piece of land along Bay Lake.
