With excitement building towards a Disneyland reopening, Disney has released their “Know Before You Go” tips and guidelines. While most of the guidelines mirror those found at Walt Disney World, one set of guidelines sticks out following some very public outbursts and unacceptable behavior from guests at Walt Disney World.
While Cast Members undoubtedly deal with tough situations on a daily basis, there have been situations where law enforcement has gotten involved, even issuing a felony after a guest spit on a Cast Member asking them to wear a required face covering.
One individual even live-streamed security escorting him out of Disney’s Hollywood Studios following a tirade that covered topics from religion to misquoting Pixar’s A Bugs Life in what he called “almost biblical times”.
Another man was arrested after refusing a temperature check at Disney Springs and then sneaking past the health screening area.
Now, Disney has apparently noted the multiple guest outbursts and placed a disclaimer on their website that they will not tolerate such behavior at Disneyland. Here’s the policy, which specifically calls out rules surrounding profanity towards others Cast Members and utilization of proper face masks (above and beyond standard park rules):
Disney reserves the right to require a Guest to leave if they are (i) not properly wearing an approved face covering, (ii) using profanity or offensive language towards our Cast Members or other Guests and/or (iii) violating any other Park Rules.
Given this unprecedented situation, we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate through this process as responsibly as we can. Additional measures and procedures may be announced closer to the opening date.
Why this policy isn’t expressly stated on the Walt Disney World website is a bit confusing. Perhaps Disney World will put a similar bit of wording in their own reopening policies page, but it hasn’t existed for nearly 9 months at this point.
Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure reopen on April 30, 2021.
