Disney World Forecasts Mandatory Face Masks Until at Least November

With the recent announcement of Disney After Hours BOO BASH replacing Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for the 2021 season, Disney also mentioned their planned health and safety measures for the event, emphasis added by BlogMickey.com:

Guests young, old and immortal can dress in costume for the occasion and get their fill of Halloween candy. As an important reminder, costume masks are not permitted for adults; they can only be worn by children younger than 14. In addition, all guests are required to wear approved face coverings during the event.

With the event scheduled to run through October 31, 2021 and a requirement that guests wear face masks for the duration of the event, we can safely assume that face masks will be mandatory at Walt Disney World until at least November, if not longer. Of course, guidelines from Disney could change, but they are currently forecasting needing to wear a face mask during the event at this time.

The news comes as local government face mask mandates are thrown into question. The Orange County mayor outlined a plan to end face coverings once certain milestones were met. Then, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed an executive order that effectively suspended the local mandate that face coverings are required.

While all of this is important, and Disney certainly keeps an eye on it, as a private business Disney is able to enact their own policies to keep guests safe. It is also possible that Disney’s health experts see a positive trend to case numbers and vaccinations, and are able to relax some of the face covering requirements between now and this fall.

    1. I fully support this decision. Not only from a public health standpoint, but Disney has a lot to lose if a breakout was attriuted to them. So far, they have escaped that “label”. The last thing they need is to have to shut down again….. and the solution is so simple for guests.
