In order to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, guests must join a virtual queue. Currently, there is no standby option which means that guests can’t walk up to the entrance like any other attraction at Walt Disney World.
The virtual queue used for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will function like other virtual queues used in the past for attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
In order to get to the Virtual Queue page, you can click on the three lines at the bottom of the navigational bar and then click on the Virtual Queues tab. You’ll be taken to a third screen where you can either click “Join Virtual Queue” or the “+” button at the top right.
Another way to reach the Virtual Queue page is by scrolling down on the home page until you see the Virtual Queue block. Tapping on “Join Virtual Queue” will take you to the same page as the method above.
From there, you’ll be presented with a list of attractions and experiences that are using a Virtual Queue. As of right now, that’s only Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
Starting an hour before the Virtual Queue opens, you’ll be able to confirm what guests you’d like to include in your Virtual Queue party. We suggest getting this sorted as soon as possible because it will alert you to any issues you might face when it comes time to join a Virtual Queue.
Then, exactly at the virtual queue opening time, you’ll want to either click the refresh button or swipe down to refresh the app to join the virtual queue. We suggest clicking the refresh button as quickly as possible because it will eventually turn into the “Join Virtual Queue” button, which you’ll also want to click as quickly as possible. Here’s a look at the flow from confirming your party to securing a boarding group (left to right).
What Is a Virtual Queue?
From time to time, a virtual queue—accessible via the My Disney Experience app—may be used for select attractions or experiences. When a virtual queue is in place, you can request to enjoy that attraction or experience later in the day, so you can enjoy other experiences while you wait. When the virtual queue is in place, a standby queue will not be available, and Guests must use the My Disney Experience app to enter the attraction or experience.
Virtual Queue Experiences
A virtual queue is currently being used for the following experiences at Walt Disney World Resort:
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
A virtual queue is in place at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter the attraction. A standby queue will not be available. Each Guest can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day during regular park hours.
Guests must have valid admission and a theme park reservation to join the virtual queue. There will be 2 daily opportunities to request to join the virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind:
- 7:00 AM (Guests do not need to be in the park when they join, but must have a theme park reservation for EPCOT)
- 1:00 PM (Guests must be in EPCOT to join the virtual queue at this time)
Extended Evening Theme Park Hours
An additional opportunity to request to join the virtual queue will be available at 6:00 PM on select dates during extended evening theme park hours, a benefit for registered Guests staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort or other select hotels. Guests with this benefit do not need to be in EPCOT to request to join at that time.
These Guests will need valid admission and a theme park reservation for the same park on the same day to experience extended evening hours—or, they may experience extended evening hours if they have a ticket or Annual Pass with the Park Hopper option and first enter the park for which they made their reservation.

Virtual queues continue to be helpful with the launch of popular attractions and the debut of new experiences and offerings, so we may use them again from time to time for select experiences in the future.
Check the My Disney Experience app just before your visit—and again before 7:00 AM on the day of your visit—to learn whether a virtual or standby queue will be required or available for any attractions or experiences when you’re here.
How It Works
When the virtual queue is in use for an attraction or experience that you would like to enjoy, here’s how it works:
Plan Ahead — Before Your Visit
Make sure you have the My Disney Experience app, with notifications enabled so you receive important updates about the virtual queue—including callback details and daily distribution times.
Select one member of your party to access the virtual queue to check for an available boarding group for everyone in your party. If multiple people in your party try to join the virtual queue simultaneously, that may inhibit your ability to join a group.
Get Ready to Join the Virtual Queue!
On the day of your visit, you may have the opportunity to join the virtual queue at daily distribution times, which are subject to change or cancellation as availability allows. Distribution schedules will be available in the My Disney Experience app.
Follow these steps to join the virtual queue:
- Step 1 – Check Availability: Log in to the My Disney Experience app at one of the distribution times. Select “Virtual Queues” on the home screen to view the current status and next steps for joining a virtual queue. The app will indicate when there is no availability for a specific distribution time, or if a backup group is available.
- Step 2 – Enroll Your Group: As long as your Disney account is linked to your group’s park tickets, and everyone has valid admission and park reservations for the park you will visit, you can enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time (subject to availability).
- Step 3 – Enjoy the Experience: If your boarding group is called to return, you’ll receive a notification via the My Disney Experience app. Then, head over to the entrance of the experience within your designated return window.
Please be aware that:
- Joining the virtual queue does not guarantee the ability to participate in the experience.
- In order to give as many Guests as possible the opportunity to join the queue, each Guest can enter the virtual queue for a given experience no more than once per day, subject to availability.
- Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability, and are not guaranteed. Not all boarding groups may be called to return, based on availability of the experience.
- Guests may not hold a boarding group for more than one experience at the same time. If more than one experience is using a virtual queue, guests will need to enter those virtual queues one at a time.
- Guests visiting from another theme park using an Annual Pass or the Park Hopper option may not be able to join the virtual queue in a park where they do not have a Disney Park Pass reservation. In order to request access to a virtual queue during Park Hopper hours, a Guest must be inside the theme park where the virtual queue will be used.
