The ongoing China Pavilion pavement project has made some wonderful progress recently, while also expanding into the World Showcase promenade. We stopped by EPCOT this morning and spent some time wandering the China Pavilion to take a look at the latest progress, including an unexpected introduction of more textures, bucking the recent trend of removing uneven surfaces. We’ll start at the entrance to the pavilion and an intrusion on the World Showcase promenade.
As you can see in the bottom of the first photo below, the cobblestone pavers are being removed – as has been the case around World Showcase.

Out on the promenade walkway, the previously bland walkway is being replaced with pavement with small stones embedded. Here’s a look at the old walkway.

Here’s a before and after of the changes in the main walkway leading into the pavilion.
Further into the pavilion, more changes are being added to give the walkway a bit more personality.
