We are entering the third month of themed celebrations for the Disney100 anniversary at Walt Disney World. As previously outlined, Disney plans on six months of “Story World” celebrations where each month has a theme before the celebration ends at EPCOT later this year.
In April, the theme was centered around Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s conservation efforts. From Earth Month celebrations to the debut of a Moana meet and greet at the end of the month, Animal Kingdom was the star as the Disney100 “Story World” months kicked off.
In May, the attention was on a galaxy far, far away, and a celebration of Star Wars. Guests were encouraged to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to take on the First Order in Rise of the Resistance or pilot the Millennium Falcon in the Smugglers Run attraction. Unfortunately, May was also the month were Disney announced that the immersive Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience would be shutting down.
In June, guests will be invited to the “Story World” of Pixar franchises. Disney World sent a tweet earlier today announcing the theme, and encouraging guests to experience Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT, Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios, or Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond! in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Another Pixar experience that recently returned to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the reopening of Pixar Place.
Looking to the summer, here are the remaining themes before the celebration kicks off properly in EPCOT:
- June – Pixar
- July – Mickey & friends
- August – Princesses
- September – Disney100 finale kicks off at EPCOT
