Construction in the World Celebration section of EPCOT (“The Pit”) seems to be accelerating as we approach the final fiscal quarter of 2023. As part of the CommuniCore Hall complex, CommuniCore Plaza will be the party area, complete with a stage and dynamic lighting to turn up the fun as the sun goes down.
While visiting EPCOT recently, we couldn’t help but notice large themed columns now installed in the CommuniCore Plaza area. The columns will likely house lighting that will bring the area to life as World Celebration becomes the new home of EPCOT Festivals. While we can’t see the large themed columns in the concept art below, we can see the beams of light that they will produce. The CommuniCore Plaza area is on the opposite side of the building depicted in the art below.
It’s tough to show just how large these theming elements are, but they reach as high as the CommuniCore Hall building nearby. Here’s a look!

CommuniCore Plaza and the rest of World Celebration will be open later this year.
