According to former Imagineer Ethan Reed, the idea for a Country Bear Jamboree musical of Disney songs was first pitched in 2004. The musical update to the fan-favorite attraction was being worked on again in 2018, but was put on hold in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Now, Disney is revisiting the idea, announcing the Country Bear Musical Jamboree will be replacing the current version of the attraction.
