Disneyland Resort “Avatar Experience” Will Be Located at Disney California Adventure Park

Disney has revealed that the previously announced Avatar experience will be located at Disney California Adventure theme park. The announcement came during an IAAPA Lunch & Learn event with Walt Disney Imagineering (via DrewDisneyDude).

Originally announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger, the “Avatar experience” currently in the works has been said to be “as amazing” as the Pandora – The World of Avatar theme park land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Details on the project remain under wraps, such as where the experience would be located and a timeline for the opening of the experience.

    1. Uh oh. This sounds cool, and Pandora in Animal Kingdom is truly awesome. However, it is not difficult to figure out where in DCA it’s going. It’s not replacing Cars Land or the new Avenger’s Campus. It’s not replacing the recently rethemed Pixar Pier or even more recently rethemed San Fransokyo areas either. And it’s not going to replace Buena Vista Street as the thing that welcomes everyone into the park. This leaves one candidate, an opening day, non IP-connected area: Grizzly Peak. I really love that area and will be sad to see it go. I just can’t imagine where else this new land could possibly go, aside from the remote possibility of doing a park expansion as they discussed doing in the DisneylandForward pitches.
