LEAKED: Plan for Avatar-themed Land at Disney Adventure World

|

As part of a media event announcing the opening date of World of Frozen and other areas of Disney Adventure World, it appears that Disney leaked the plans for an Avatar-themed land. To be clear from the start of this article, Disneyland Paris has not officially announced plans for an Avatar land for the park, but it looks like Pandora could be in the works as the next expansion project. Here’s the latest.

Leaked: Avatar Land Coming to Disney Adventure World

As far as “leaks” go, this is about as official as it can get…usually. Disneyland Paris has a history of leaking out information accidentally, and it looks like we could be seeing that happen again. This leak comes courtesy of an official media event and a Disney fan site that was at the event.

DLP Report shared the following official rendering of the infrastructure that will be in Adventure Bay to support the new Cascade of Lights show. The show itself will be impressive, featuring the world’s first aquatic drones, among a fleet of 379 aerial drones, water screens, and more. As impressive as the rendering below is, it’s actually a label on the rendering that has the attention of Disney fans.

Each of the “arms” of the infrastructure contains a label that corresponds to the direction that the arm extends.

Enhance! It reads: “LOKI NAVI / NW / 4”

Each of the arms contains “Loki”, so I’m assuming that’s the project name for the infrastructure itself. What strikes us as interesting is that the northwest arm is labeled “Navi”. Of course, Na’vi is the name of the species of sapient humanoids who inhabit the lush moon of Pandora.

It would stand to reason that this rendering is current, given the other names of Frozen, Racers, and Lion corresponding to known areas of the park. It is especially telling given that the Lion King land (now under construction) replaced older plans that called for a Star Wars-themed area.

Furthermore, the northwest label fits nicely with a known expansion plot for Disney Adventure World. As seen in the model below from the 2024 D23 Expo, the Lion King land sits in the southeast corner of Adventure Bay, and the Frozen land sits on the southwest shoreline. The “Racer” label likely corresponds with the RC Racers attraction to the northeast, putting an Avatar-themed land in the grassy area seen on the far right of the photo below, to the right of the backstage river.

I believe that the area that could become an Avatar-themed land is currently used for backstage work, including the testing of the Lion King attraction flume. While the model could be deceiving, it seems like there is enough space to create an Avatar-themed land between World of Frozen and the Cars ROAD TRIP attraction.

In terms of what this Avatar-themed land could look like, that remains to be seen. Disney is currently developing plans for an Avatar-themed land for Disney California Adventure, so there could be some opportunity there for a develop-once-build-twice situation similar to what Disney did with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

As with any leak or rumor, you should treat the speculation in this article as unofficial unless or until Disney confirms its plans.

  1. “Avatar” is insanely popular in Europe, especially France. So it is not surprising the next immersive land, around Adventure Bay, would be Pandora. My guess is the land will be themed to “Avatar: Fire & Ash”, and will utilize the “Flight of Passage” ride system. Not only would that ride by unlike anything else at Disneyland Paris, but would also balance out the boat rides in Arendelle and the Pride Lands.

As for the “Racers” platform…. that probably refers to the plot “Cars Road Trip” sits on. It is extremely probable Disney is considering replacing that ride with an actual Cars Land. Especially, since on is being built in Magic Kingdom.
