State Senator Linda Stewart has penned a letter to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, saying that a “vacancy” has been created at the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, but District Administrator Glen Gilzean might not be ready to let go of power over Walt Disney World.

On Monday, DeSantis appointed Gilzean to the position of Supervisor of Elections for Orange County Florida. It would stand to reason that Gilzean would step down from his position overseeing CFTOD, but he might not be willing to cede power. In a social media post, Gilzean said that Paula J. Hoisington would become Acting District Administrator. That said, Gilzean didn’t say he was stepping down, but that Hoisington would become Acting District Administrator during his “unavailability”.

BlogMickey.com and other Orlando news outlets have reached out to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District to get clarification of Gilzean’s status, but the District has not outright said that Gilzean would step down. In a statement to BlogMickey.com, the District’s Office of Public Information said that “transition should be completed in one week”, but did not respond when asked to clarify if Gilzean will vacate his position as Administrator.

Going back to the letter from Sen. Stewart, the Senator asks DeSantis to appoint someone local to the Board. If Gilzean does step down, there wouldn’t be a vacancy on the Board of Supervisors, but the Board would be tasked with selecting a new Administrator.

Gilzean is currently named in lawsuits between Disney and the District and has been scheduled for a deposition on April 9th.
