Hurricane Helene: New Tornado Watch Includes Walt Disney World Until Tomorrow Morning

    Published:

As conditions worsen throughout Central Florida, a new Tornado Watch has been issued for Central and Northern Florida. An earlier Tornado Watch has been allowed to expire at 8pm. That earlier Tornado Watch included southern parts of Florida that are now mostly out of the area of concern as it relates to the bulk of Hurricane Helene. Here’s the updated information.

New Hurricane Helene Tornado Watch Issued for Walt Disney World Area

The Tornado Watch includes Walt Disney World, and will expire at 6am tomorrow, September 27th. During the watch time, several tornadoes are likely and wind gusts up to 70mph are possible. Florida has already experienced several radar-indicated tornadoes today. Here’s a look at the new Tornado Watch.

Walt Disney World has largely been spared the brunt of the storm as it stayed in the Gulf of Mexico while strengthening throughout the day. Hurricane Helene is expected to make landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida tonight and is currently a strong Category 4 storm.

Walt Disney World closed Typhoon Lagoon and its mini golf courses for the day. Other adjustments included the cancelation of tonight’s nighttime spectaculars as gusty conditions have increased throughout the afternoon and evening.
