Walt Disney World Under Tornado Watch as Effects of Hurricane Helene Felt Today Across Florida

A Tornado Watch has been issued for a significant portion of Florida, including Walt Disney World. The Tornado Watch comes as the effects of Hurricane Helene are felt throughout the state ahead of landfall later tonight. Conditions in the Walt Disney World area are currently breezy and overcast as bands of rain pass through the area. Walt Disney World remains under a Tropical Storm Warning, with peak winds forecast of 25-35mph and gusts up to 55mph.

Operationally, Walt Disney World theme parks remain open to guests, and closures for outdoor attractions and experiences are expected as rain and wind move through the area. Walt Disney World has canceled tonight’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and adjusted operating hours for Magic Kingdom. Other changes include the cancelation of outdoor tours at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the closure of Typhoon Lagoon and mini golf.

Hurricane Helene is now a category two storm, and it is forecast to strengthen more throughout the day before making landfall as a major category three or four storm in the Big Bend area of northern Florida.
