Track installation has begun on the all-new Door Vault roller coaster coming to Monstropolis. The first track piece is now attached to the support structure inside the show building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The rest of the track sits staged nearby, waiting to be installed. New aerial photos offer the clearest look yet at the ride taking shape.

The First Track Is Installed

The first piece of Door Vault coaster track has been installed at Monstropolis. The section is now connected to the support steel inside the show building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This marks the start of track installation, the phase that turns a pile of staged steel into a ride.

Aerial photos from Bioreconstruct showed the track staged on the building floor just days ago. Now the first section is mounted in place – a milestone for the project.

Why This Track Goes Overhead

The Door Vault attraction is a suspended coaster, where guests ride with their feet dangling below the track that runs overhead. Disney has previously announced that it is the first-ever suspended coaster at a Disney park, paired with the company’s first-ever vertical lift to mimic the door-hoist scene from the film.

That design explains how this first piece goes in. The track mounts up in the structure rather than along the ground, so installation means hoisting each section into the framework and connecting it overhead, exactly what the first installed piece shows.

What the Aerials Show

Friend of the site Bioreconstruct captured new aerial photos from above the construction site. The images give us our first clear view of the installed track connected to the support structure.

The aerial angle matters because this work sits deep inside the steel, hidden from any ground-level, in-park vantage points. From above, you can pick out the first mounted section and the connection point where it ties into the structure.

The Rest Is Staged and Waiting

This is just the start of a lengthy process. Plenty of track still sits staged nearby, sitting on wooden blocks and rigged for the lifts ahead.

That mix of installed and staged track is an exciting bit of progress. The team has moved from delivery and prep into active installation, and the pace of the next sections will tell us how quickly the layout comes together. There is still plenty of building to be installed and lots of track to be installed.

What Comes Next

With the first section up, the next stretch is connecting more track and building out the layout piece by piece.

Disney has not announced an opening date for Monstropolis or the Door Vault coaster. Best guesses put the Door Vault roller coaster and the rest of Monstropolis in a 2028 opening timeframe.
