UPDATE: Even more cancellations and adjustments have been announced:
Ahead of tomorrow’s arrival of Hurricane Helene to the state of Florida, Walt Disney World has announced the first storm-related closures. According to the Walt Disney World website, Typhoon Lagoon will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, September 26th, and is expected to reopen on Friday, September 27th. Both of Walt Disney World’s mini golf courses will also be closed over the same time period.
We’ve been tracking Helene for a couple of days now, and the storm strengthened into a named Hurricane a couple of hours ago. It is expected to have a large wind field, bringing Tropical Storm conditions to Central Florida as it passes by west of Tampa Bay.
No other closures have been announced at this time, and all of Walt Disney World’s four theme parks are expected to remain open tomorrow. It’s possible that some entertainment offerings could be modified, and it’s likely that outdoor attractions will have an increased amount of downtime due to the expected wind and rain.
Select guests could be subject to Walt Disney World’s Hurricane Policy. For more on the policy, and to see if you will be impacted, check out our article below!
