A number of My Disney Experience users are reporting a premature map update for the DinoLand USA section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The digital map currently reflects what the land will look like once the phase one closure takes effect on January 13, 2025. As part of the phase one closure, a number of attractions and experiences will close to make way for construction of an all-new Encanto-themed attraction.
Premature Map Update Shows Closure of DinoLand USA
As you can see in the screenshot below, the digital map in the My Disney Experience Walt Disney World app is showing that a portion of DinoLand USA is now closed off despite the fact that it won’t be closed until January 2025. The “closed” area is covered by grass and trees. The screenshots below show a before/after of the digital map update – previewing what guests can expect when the area actually closes early next year.
The update could be a previously scheduled map change to reflect a mid-November phase one closure, as was previously rumored. Cast Members in the area expected the phase one closure to begin this Fall, but Disney pushed it to the new year. Walt Disney World even previously announced that construction would begin this Fall, but that timeframe is now called into question.
Here’s a list of offerings that will close as part of the phase one closure of DinoLand USA early next year:
Closed Effective January 13, 2025
- TriceraTop Spin
- Fossil Fun Games
- Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures Gift Shop
Remaining Open January 13th and beyond (for now)
- DINOSAUR
- The Boneyard
- Restaurantosaurus
- Dino-Bite Snacks
- Trilo-Bites
