While visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently to check out the new Walt Disney Imagineering display, we noticed that demolition was underway in the former Animation Courtyard space. As you may know, Animation Courtyard is being transformed into a new area called the Walt Disney Studios Lot. The new Studios Lot will undergo a light cosmetic transformation, with the largest changes being the removal of the Hollywood Studios archway and the installation of a Sorcerer Mickey hat. While we patiently await the demolition of the archway, smaller demolition is now underway in the courtyard area. Here’s a look.
Animation Courtyard Demolition Begins
As you can see in our photos below, demolition has begun near the former Disney Junior Play & Dance theater. When we visited, Disney had already begun cutting away a part of the awning that covered the meet and greet areas.
If you look closely, you can even see some of the old beige and tan paint scheme that was behind the meet and greet facades.
