Hollywood Studios Archway Prepared for Demolition as Animation Courtyard Construction Walls Expand

|

The Hollywood Studios archway that leads into the now-closed Animation Courtyard will soon be demolished. While visiting the park this morning, we noticed that construction walls around Animation Courtyard have expanded to fully encompass the archway. We’ll have more on the history of the archway in a separate article now that it is being prepared for demolition, including a detailed look at the scenes depicted in the archway. In the meantime, here’s a look at the recent change that suggests the archway is not long for this world.

Construction Walls Expand in Animation Courtyard, Archway Surrounded

We’ll start at the Hollywood Studios archway. Concept art for the new Walt Disney Studios Lot area shows that the archway will be demolished. With the archway now completely surrounded, the demolition can move forward. Here’s a before/after of the construction wall expansion, followed by more photos from our visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this morning.

To get to Toy Story Land and the new Little Mermaid show, guests will head to a staircase to the left of the construction walls. The stairway can be found to the left of the construction walls, and to the right of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. A new ramp has opened in this area as well. The new ramp is in addition to the other ramp that has been in place. It’s likely that Disney needed two ramps in this area to be in compliance, or that the other ramp will close soon.

At the bottom of the stairs/ramp, guests can turn left to go toward Toy Story Land, or they can head right toward the Little Mermaid show. The area in front of the show entrance is quite claustrophobic now – and that’s with no other guests in the area. Expect this spot to be an area of increased congestion for the next few months and into 2026.
