Friend of the site Bioreconstruct recently took to the skies over Walt Disney World, providing updated aerial views of construction taking place around the resort. In this article, we’re going to focus on aerial photos of the construction of the Encanto-themed attraction coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The first piece of vertical steel was placed back in early December, and crews have made wonderful progress in the past few weeks. Here’s an updated look!
Aerial Photos of Encanto Attraction Building Construction
As a quick refresher, an all-new Encanto attraction is being built in the former DinoLand USA section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The new attraction will follow Antonio the day after he received his magical gift – the ability to communicate with animals. As we explore alongside Antonio, we never know which member of the Madrigal family we might bump into!
Logistically, there will be a large show building hidden behind the Casita facade. We got a first look at the layout of the land thanks to a scale model at the D23 Expo, followed by a detailed permit that outlined the changes expected.
Guests hoping to get a sneak peek of the Tropical Americas land can now find the scale model on display at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Check out our article below for a detailed look!
Ok, getting back to the aerial photos, we can see that Imagineering is, in fact, building the structure from “back” to “front”, as we first speculated when the first piece of steel was put in place.
In this first photo, we can see the layout of the land, seen roughly from the same angle as the scale model is positioned at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
A reverse angle shows the “show building” a little bit better.

Plans for an Encanto-themed attraction being part of the Tropical Americas project were first announced in September 2023 at the Destination D23 event. Since then, Disney has offered new details and confirmed that the concept is moving forward at the 2024 D23 Expo.
