New Coat of Pink Paint Applied to Cinderella Castle

|

As we continue our Cinderella Castle repainting watch, we noticed that a new coat of pink paint has been applied to the iconic structure. The new pink paint comes just days ahead of the anticipated start of the project that will remove the pink paint and restore a classic look for the Castle. Here’s a look at the new paint, followed by our speculation as to why there is new pink paint just days ahead of the repainting project.

New Coat of Pink Paint on Cinderella Castle

First, here’s a look at the new coat of pink paint. We don’t recall seeing this contrast in Cinderella Castle paint coat color just a few days ago. As to why there is new paint here, we have some thoughts. First, here’s a look at the new coat of paint, which comprises a relatively small patch.

As to the why of the new coat of soon-to-be-old paint, we have to go back to March 2020 and the first look that we got at the “Rose Pink” color that would soon dominate the entire Castle. The new paint test was in the exact same spot as the recent new coat of paint. My assumption is that this particular area of the Castle is an easy spot to perform test swatches.

If that’s the case, Disney likely performed a recent test swatch of the new “classic” color that Cinderella Castle will be restored to shortly. Disney likely painted over that test swatch recently to prevent guests from seeing the new color scheme before the work begins. Either that, or some other reason that I can’t think of.

Either way, we should see work begin shortly on the Cinderella Castle repainting. Work was originally scheduled to begin earlier this month, but filming of the Hallmark Channel holiday movie likely delayed the start of work.

Walt Disney World announced its intention to repaint Cinderella Castle back at the August 2025 Destination D23 event. The updated paint will feature grays, creams, blues, and touches of gold aiming to enhance the castle’s architecture. Imagineers also shared a rendering for the new Cinderella Castle color palette, which is inspired by the classic and original look of the castle.

  1. Much of what they were talking about with the paint was how it reflects light, especially in regard to how the projections look on it. That spot is front, flat and centered roughly for the projectors, so my assumption was they also likely used that as a projection test patch so that the colors of the projections can be adjusted again while the castle is being repainted, so that a slightly revised version of HEA color-wise will be ready by the time the repaint is done.
