Bright suns from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where construction walls have been removed from Savi’s Workshop, and a new canopy provides some shade at Savi’s Workshop. Construction in the area has been ongoing since September 2025, and we speculated that the work was for a new shade structure back in February. Now, we have a look around at the completed work!
New Shade Structure Debuts at Savi’s Workshop
With construction walls removed, the entire courtyard at Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is now open. Here’s a look at the area, along with the shade structure that provides some relief from the three suns that circle the planet of Batuu.
Interestingly, I think there is actually less shade than when the area was filled with umbrellas, but this shade structure is a nicer visual, assuming they can figure out a configuration that will provide at least as much a shade as before.
Surrounding areas were impacted by the work, and perhaps the deep freeze earlier this year. As such, the landscaping is more like land-scrapping, with scrap metal and pine needles spread throughout the flower beds.
We’re also awaiting the return of a speeder bike that was in the empty space below.
Here’s a look at the Savi’s Workshop outdoor queue area, which was unaffected by the construction work, save for the addition of a few poles in the area for the canopy.
This canopy project appears to have been a coordinated effort with a new shaded seating area in Galaxy’s Edge to give guests a chance at some relief from the hot Summer months ahead.
