New hilt pieces have officially arrived at Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and this time it is the dark side’s turn to get an upgrade. Disney has rolled out a fresh set of salvaged parts for the Power and Control theme at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World and at Disneyland. These are the first new build-your-own lightsaber pieces since the limited-time Reclaimed and Reforged theme made its debut last May.

New Power and Control Lightsaber Pieces

Disney’s official Walt Disney World page for Savi’s Workshop is now listing the Power and Control theme with a callout about new pieces.

The Power and Control theme remains the go-to option for fans of the dark side. As Disney describes it, the style features rumored remnants from the Sith homeworld and abandoned temples, originally forged by dark side warriors. The new parts carry that same story forward with fresh pieces that give the Power and Control hilt a distinct look.

Here’s a look at the various parts that guests can choose from. As a reminder, each finished hilt includes two sleeves, an emitter, a pommel cap, and an activation plate and switch, along with a kyber crystal.

Emitters (pick one)
The left emitter features a silver/gunmetal finish with an open, claw-like structure of angular swept-back fins surrounding a louvered center section. A single red accent stripe runs vertically through the vented core, giving it a sleek, mechanical look. The circular disc base anchors the design cleanly.

The right emitter takes a darker, more aggressive approach with a primarily black body accented by bold red rectangular marks arranged around its cylindrical core. Angular silver wing extensions flare out from the sides, and a raised rectangular block detail adds dimension to the front face. The overall design carries a distinctly dark-side energy compared to its counterpart.

Sleeves (pick two)
The leftmost sleeve has a dark charcoal rubber-looking finish with a diagonal crosshatch pattern embossed across its surface. Red accent bands wrap around both the top and bottom edges, adding a bold contrast to the otherwise understated design. It has a slightly wider, more rounded profile compared to the others.

The second sleeve features a segmented, stacked-ring construction with alternating silver and black horizontal bands running its full height. A red accent ring sits near the top, tying it visually to the first sleeve. The layered look gives it a mechanical, almost industrial feel.

The third sleeve is defined by a bold chevron or zigzag pattern in silver and black that runs vertically up the body. Small red accent marks appear near the top and bottom edges, keeping the color palette consistent with the other pieces. The sharp, repeating geometry gives it an aggressive, dynamic appearance.

The rightmost sleeve has a smoother, more sculpted silver finish with vertical raised channels running down its body. It has a slightly lighter tone than the others and a more organic, flowing shape compared to the harder geometric designs of its neighbors. A small base ring at the bottom adds a subtle finishing detail.

Switches (pick one)
The left switch has a dark gunmetal body with a rectangular, slightly curved face dominated by a recessed panel displaying three bold red horizontal bars against a black background. The angular, beveled framing around the display gives it a high-tech, control-panel aesthetic. It has a compact, boxy form with small protruding tabs on either side.

The right switch’s face features a large, shield-shaped recessed panel with horizontal louvered detailing inside, framed by sweeping V-shaped lines that give it an almost teardrop-like appearance. The flared, tapered base adds an elegant, sculpted quality that feels more refined compared to the industrial look of the left switch.

Endcaps (pick one)
The left endcap has a faceted black body with deep horizontal grooves running around its midsection, giving it a threaded-looking texture. A single red accent ring wraps around the top edge, providing a sharp pop of color against the dark detailing. The flat circular top and tapered sides give it a solid, utilitarian look.

The right endcap features an open, turbine-like design with several elongated silver fins radiating outward from a central hub, creating a dramatic, almost jet-engine (or podracer engine) appearance. A black band rings the top, and small dark recessed panels sit between the fins, adding depth to the overall structure. The design feels more complex and visually striking compared to the simpler form of the left endcap.

A History of Parts Refreshes

This is not the first time Savi’s Workshop has updated the Power and Control parts. As we covered back in January 2023, both Power and Control and Peace and Justice received new scrap metal pieces at that time. More recently, we covered the debut of the limited-time Reclaimed and Reforged theme on May the 4th, 2025, which offered an entirely new customization path built around scraps scavenged from the galaxy’s outer rim. That was a temporary addition, not a permanent one.

The new 2026 Power and Control pieces mark the first update to the permanent lineup since that 2023 refresh.

The Four Hilt Themes

All four standard hilt themes remain available year-round alongside the refreshed Power and Control parts: Power and Control (newly updated), Peace and Justice, Elemental Nature, and Protection and Defense. Guests choose their theme before entering the workshop, where a Gatherer guides them through the build. Each hilt includes two sleeves, an emitter, a pommel cap, and an activation plate and switch, along with a kyber crystal in the color of your choosing.

How to Book

Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance through the My Disney Experience app or the Walt Disney World website. A limited number of same-day reservations may be available up to two hours in advance, and walk-ins can be accommodated based on availability. The experience costs $274.99 plus tax per builder, with full payment due at the time of booking. Custom lightsabers are nonrefundable and are not eligible for Annual Passholder or other discounts. Additional parts and kyber crystals can be purchased separately at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.

OUR TAKE: It’s good to see a parts refresh every once in a while for Savi’s Workshop. While the experience is second to none in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the price is nearly as oppressive as the First Order (or Empire, if you’re from Disneyland).

We’ve still got our Gen 1 hilts from when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened, and as much as I’d love to experience Savi’s Workshop again, the $280 price tag is a bit of a hurdle. That said, as new scrap pieces continue to debut, a compelling case can be made for a repeat visit if there is a design I have to have.

Beyond the Power & Control update, no other hilt themes have changed, but that’s not to say that they won’t. During the 2023 refresh of all hilt themes, it took a couple of months for the refresh to make its way through the lineup. We’ll keep an eye out for more changes.
