Interactive Ewok Kicks Off ‘Batuu Adventure Buddies’ Collection Coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Droid Depot at Disneyland Resort will welcome a new kind of companion on August 13, 2026. An interactive, cuddly Ewok debuts that day inside the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge shop. It’s the first of three planned Batuu Adventure Buddies toys, a new collection beyond the shop’s build-your-own droids. Guests can also customize the Ewok with several themed gear packs for an additional fee.

  • An interactive Ewok debuts at Droid Depot on August 13, 2026, the first of three planned Batuu Adventure Buddies toys
  • The Ewok features LCD eyes, motorized expressions, and interactive taps that trigger sounds and animations
  • Three themed gear packs will be available separately to further customize the toy

Droids have long played a role in some of the Star Wars saga’s most memorable stories. Droid Depot has let guests build their own since it first opened at Disneyland in 2019. Now the shop is expanding with the Batuu Adventure Buddies collection, a new line of interactive plush-style companions.

The collection begins with an interactive Ewok that goes on sale inside Droid Depot at Disneyland park starting August 13, 2026. Disneyland will get the remaining two Buddies at a later date. From there, the full three-toy collection will eventually debut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well.

Each Ewok comes with LCD eyes and motorized facial expressions. It also makes a range of sounds, including giggles, laughs, and chatter meant to give the toy its own personality. Disney describes the toys as crafted by a fictional crew of Anzellan manufacturers, the same droid builders tied to the shop’s existing droid experience.

How the Interactive Ewok Works

The Ewok responds to guest interaction in a few different ways. A single tap on the head or two taps on the belly triggers random responses. Three quick, consecutive taps on the head unlock two special animations instead.

  • Endor Dance Party: rhythmic eye animations paired with Ewokese chanting and drumming sounds, and nearby Ewok toys may join in
  • Forest Call Chain: a rapid double tap on the belly that lets out a scout call, prompting other nearby Batuu Adventure Buddies to respond in their own languages

Guests who already own an astromech droid from Droid Depot get another layer of play. The Ewok can interact directly with those droids, adding a new way for both toys to respond to each other.

Droid Depot will also offer three themed gear packs for an additional fee. Guests can use them to further personalize their new companion. Each pack pairs a handful of accessories with its own galactic setting.

  • Endor Gear Set: spear, horn, grilled fish, and Endor Issue poncho
  • Mandalore Gear Set: Mythosaur axe, nummies, Beskar chest armor, and shoulder cape
  • Batuu Gear Set: YT-1300 Freighter model, all-kit tool, Ronto wrap, and Bantuuan poncho

These accessories aren’t purely decorative. Each piece connects to the Ewok’s left hand and triggers its own unique animations, sounds, and reactions. That adds another layer of interactivity beyond the base toy alone.

What to Expect at Droid Depot

Guests looking to bring home a Batuu Adventure Buddy will start at a dedicated wall bay inside Droid Depot. It’s separate from the shop’s existing build-your-own droid stations. A cast member helps guests pick out their companion and any gear pack add-ons first. From there, guests take part in a special activation moment that brings the toy to life for the first time.

Disney has not yet announced pricing for the Ewok or the individual gear packs. Droid Depot’s existing droid-building experience isn’t going anywhere either.
