REVIEW: More African Eats Hit Harambe Market Menu

While visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom today, we stopped into Harambe Market to find a new item added to the menu. Harambe Market took over chicken and burger duties for the now-closed Restaurantosaurus earlier this year, and this latest addition marks a return to form for the African eatery. The new item is the Tanzanian Meat Pie, and we tried it during today’s visit.

REVIEW: Tanzanian Meat Pie Is A Welcome Addition to Harambe Market

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • The Tanzanian Meat Pie is now available at Harambe Market for $13.49
  • The pie is made with African-spiced beef and lamb in warm naan bread, topped with kachumbari and tzatziki
  • We rank it as the second-best entree currently on the Harambe Market menu

African-spiced Beef and Lamb in Warm Naan Bread with Kachumbari and Tzatziki, served with choice of Side

Fried fish with sauce, French fries, and colorful plate at Harambe Market.

The Tanzanian Meat Pie is $13.49 and comes with a choice of side. We opted for fries, but other options include kettle chips or a fruit cup. Inside the naan is African-spiced beef and lamb, and the whole thing is topped with kachumbari and tzatziki.

The African-spiced beef and lamb was pretty good, tasting like a better-than-average ground beef. Actually, ground beef may be undercutting the flavors here a bit. It was solid. The kachumbari was notably fresh and light, working well alongside the richer filling. Tzatziki is always a welcome addition in our book, and here it provided a nice contrast to the spiced beef and lamb inside the naan.

The naan left something to be desired. It was lightly seasoned, which we liked, but the texture ran tough and downright chewy at times.

Ranked against the rest of the current Harambe Market lineup, the Tanzanian Meat Pie lands as a solid number two behind the Harissa Chicken Wrap, and it’s still a better order than the burgers or chicken strips.

Story So Far

  • Harambe Market closed for refurbishment in October 2025, with fans of the previous menu directed to nearby Kusafiri Bakery for similar items in the meantime.
  • Harambe Market’s soft opening began February 2nd, 2026, with full operations starting February 5th, taking over burger and chicken strip duty from the closing Restaurantosaurus.
  • In our review of the new lineup, we noted the location had previously served chicken and rice bowls, beef and lamb pitas, and specialty beverages as recently as the previous summer, before switching over to burgers and chicken strips.
