Disney World Reportedly Poised to Expand Virtual Queue to More Attractions

According to a report from WDWMagic, Disney World is looking to expand the use of virtual queue to more attractions as lines continue to grow. The report states that virtual queue is being considered for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Jungle Cruise. While we were unable to confirm plans for Jungle Cruise, we have confirmed that Disney has written code that would support virtual queue for Smugglers Run. A timeline has not been given for a rollout of the virtual queues for more attractions.

As we’ve noted before, Disney CEO Bob Chapek has stated that the theme parks remain at a 25% capacity per CDC physical distancing guidelines. Of course, with physical distancing limitations in place at each and every queue, the typical queue space is proving to be insufficient for growing crowds.

As you may know, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is the only attraction that currently utilizes a virtual queue via a “Boarding Groups” process that has proven to be extremely frustrating for the average guest. We don’t anticipate other attractions receiving the demand that Rise of the Resistance has, and a virtual queue return time should be easier to obtain for other attractions should the report pan out and Disney roll out virtual queues to more attractions.
