New Imagineering Permit Hints at Indiana Jones Attraction Courtyard Construction

|

A new permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering on Friday could be an early indication of work set to take place beginning in February, when DinoLand USA fully closes to guests and crews get to roll up their sleeves on Restaurantosaurus and the DINOSAUR attraction. The new permit is tied to an address that is roughly where the courtyard of the DINOSAUR attraction is, but it could be for something completely different! Here’s what we know.

New Imagineering Permit for Indiana Jones Attraction Courtyard

The new permit lists an address that we haven’t previously seen used for the Tropical Americas Land project, indicating a new scope of work. The address roughly resolves to the courtyard “entrance” for the current DINOSAUR attraction (seen below).

The new permit lists longtime Walt Disney World general contractor Whiting-Turner as the contractor of note. Interestingly, the permit has a standard 1-year expiration date. I wouldn’t read too much into it, as the permit is likely for site prep and development. The permit lists the scope of the work as “general construction”, which is a frustratingly generic description.

It is likely notable that the “600 DinoLand Drive” address listed in the permit is different than the “594 DinoLand Drive” address that corresponds to the new playground that is being built nearby. Back in late October, we covered documents that confirmed the location of the playground. This newly filed permit is in the general area, but it seems to be just outside of the scope of the playground project.

As a reminder, here’s a look at concept art and the scale model on display at the Walt Disney Presents exhibit at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, showcasing the transformation of the DINOSAUR attraction into an Indiana Jones-themed ride.
