Disney has officially confirmed our earlier reporting on a guest room refurbishment at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Here’s the quote from Disney:
Starting in April 2021, Disney’s Contemporary Resort will begin a refurbishment to reimagine Guest rooms. While some Main Tower rooms will be unavailable during the refurbishment, most resort areas and amenities will still be available for Guests to enjoy.
While Disney didn’t mention the rumored Incredibles overlay for the rooms, they did say that the work is to “reimagine” the rooms. Permits were recently filed for the room refurbishment.
Back in August 2019, Disney created two “test rooms” to flesh out the concept of what appeared to be an Incredibles-themed overhaul.
While we were originally receptive to the idea of a mid-century modern look for the rooms, it’s unclear if that retheming gained any traction or not.
Over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, work is actively underway to add a Moana flare to the guest rooms at that resort. Disney hasn’t shared concept art or details for the room retheme, but said that the Polynesian Village Resort would be reopening in Summer 2021.
