With a rather unambitious Spring 2023 opening season announced at the recent 2022 D23 Expo, we can start to check back in on the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster with a little less enthusiasm. For a few weeks there, it was exciting to see some progress, most notably human riders as it looked like Disney was preparing the attraction for a holiday season opening (or even sooner). Ultimately, it looks like Disney wants TRON to be the carrot they dangle in their “last chance” marketing push for the end of the 50th Anniversary next Spring.
Over at the TRON Lightcycle Run construction site, crews continue in two areas of interest. We’ll start with the entrance courtyard, which has some new concrete after what seemed like an endless barrage of rainstorms that may have delayed work a bit.
The second area of interest is the entrance tunnel, which recently saw the installation of more canopy.
First, here’s a general idea of what the area will look like when it is finished.
Here’s a look at the most recent work.
