New Concrete Forms Take Shape, Construction Expands for CommuniCore Hall & CommuniCore Plaza at EPCOT

As crews continue to target a late 2023 opening for CommuniCore Hall and the rest of World Celebration (including Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana in World Nature), we wanted to take a look at the latest construction from both inside EPCOT and on the EPCOT monorail.

The CommuniCore Hall multi-purpose building replaces the World Celebration Festival Center, which was budget cut during the theme park closures in March 2020. CommuniCore Hall will be home to a festival stage, meet & greets, a demonstration kitchen, a mixology bar, and serve as a festival support center. It is expected to open in late 2023.

Here’s a look at concept art for the building, which will sit in the southwest corner of World Celebration.

Here’s a look at the festival stage that will be part of CommuniCore Hall.

We’ll start with some in-park views of the building. In this first photo, you can see CommuniCore Hall taking shape through the breezeway between Creations Shop and Connections Cafe & Eatery.

As we get closer, we can see that crews are working on the infrastructure of the building. The skeleton of the structure is in place, and crews are working on installing pipes and electrical in addition to building some walls. Here’s a look around.

Hopping on the monorail, we can see more of the work that’s taking place behind the construction walls, including some newly poured concrete and work on some forms that will continue to rise. The notable part of this update is that work is expanding east and south of the currently visible structure. This represents the “CommuniCore Plaza” area as seen below in the World Celebration site plan.

This oval-shaped concrete could be for the multi-purpose stage that we can see in the concept art below in an area that will be under cover when the building is complete.
