Guests visiting Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe today will not be serenaded by resident artist Sonny Eclipse as he’s gone missing from the stage. More accurately, his platform has been replaced by a special events platform for reasons unknown. Typically, the special events stage is rolled out for, you guessed it, special events such as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. That said, there are no special events going on right now, so Sonny’s disappearance could be interesting.
Sonny Eclipse Missing from Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
As you can see in our photos below, Sonny Eclipse is not currently performing at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. It’s actually eerily quiet in the space, with no other background music playing. The stage is capable of working like an elevator of sorts, with the currently visible special events stage usually on the utilidoors level below the dining location.
When the stage is in this configuration, Sonny Eclipse and his Astro-Organ are lifted into a recessed part of the ceiling. With no special events on the calendar that we’re aware of, I’m guessing that Sonny Eclipse isn’t working at the moment, and Disney decided to lift him out of sight.
Sonny went missing for a couple of months in early 2023 as well. Sonny Eclipse was playing up until recently. Here’s a look at his stage during our visit to Magic Kingdom today. No word on when Sonny will return, but hopefully it’s soon!
