Five Walt Disney World Passholder “Good-to-Go” Dates Added for July, Early August

|

Following the removal of a Disney Park Pass restriction for Annual Passholders, Walt Disney World has done a complete 180 reversal and is now offering a number of Good-to-Go dates over the next 7-10 days. We typically don’t cover Good-to-Go dates given how pointless they are, and how pointless the Disney Park Pass reservation system is, but it is notable how quickly Disney has reversed course on their approach to Passholder reservations following the debut of the Disney Starlight nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom.

Five “Good-to-Go” Dates Added for Walt Disney World Passholders

Five of the next nine days are listed as “Good-to-Go”, meaning that Walt Disney World Annual Passholders don’t need to make a theme park reservation to enter a theme park. This is about as abrupt as an about-face as we can imagine for Walt Disney World following Magic Kingdom theme park reservation restrictions put in place on July 20th, and removed on July 28th.

New “Good-to-Go” Dates

  • July 30, 31
  • August 3, 4, 7

The restrictions were put in place based on internal projections of high demand for the brand-new Disney Starlight nighttime parade. Following two days of soft openings, the parade brought large crowds on opening night. Crowds have moderated since then.

Now, Walt Disney World is forecasting low enough crowds over the next 10 days that they don’t feel the need to use theme park reservations at all on a majority of those dates. Of course, theme park reservations are rather unnecessary anyway, with zero sold-out dates for the next year. Even high-attendance periods such as Thanksgiving and Christmas have been mitigated by standard Annual Pass blockout dates in the past year or two. The Park Pass reservation system hasn’t been truly needed for more than a day or two at a time for quite some time now.

To that end, even five out of nine days being marked as “Good-to-Go” is too few. If Walt Disney World is adamant about keeping the Disney Park Pass system, they should be marking weeks or entire months at a time as “Good-to-Go”, but I digress.

In the meantime, enjoy your visits, Passholders – and please, buy a Mickey Bar or two.
