Long-Abandoned ‘Mickey’s Gift Station’ Sign Removed at Transportation & Ticket Center

|

In what can only be described as the luckiest timing to the Magic Kingdom parking lot we’ve ever had, we saw crews removing the Mickey’s Gift Station signage right as we arrived at the Transportation & Ticket Center today. The long-abandoned location has been closed for years and years, and the sign only stood as a reminder of the past. Mickey’s Gift Station closed before the COVID-19 shutdowns and never reopened. Now, it looks like a reopening is unlikely.

Mickey’s Gift Station Sign Removed

As we arrived, we noticed ladders near the gift shop and two Cast Members working to remove the sign. A few screws later, and a final check that there weren’t any live wires, and the sign was gone. Here’s a final look at the Mickey’s Gift Station sign has it was being removed earlier this afternoon.

Walt Disney World has not announced any plans for the former gift shop, but construction is underway on the other side of the ticket plaza. It’s possible that Disney is working to update the arrival experience further following the early 2020s updates.

Mickey’s Gift Station was exactly what it sounded like – a gift shop. This served as a good location to either start your day or as one last chance to buy a souvenir as you were headed back to your car after a day at Magic Kingdom.
