Classic Railings, Pavement Replaced at Transportation & Ticket Center During Refurbishment

|

Good morning from Magic Kingdom, where we’ll have a day of construction project updates for you, starting with the Transportation & Ticket Center. As you may know, construction walls surrounded a portion of the Transportation & Ticket Center ticketing booths back in early August, and work has been taking place since then. Recently, construction walls were shifted from the far left side of the ticketing kiosks to the far right side. Here’s a look at what changed during the refurbishment.

Transportation & Ticket Center Ticket Booth Refurbishment

As you can see in the photos below, the railings that have been in place since the turn of the century (at least) have been removed, and the themed pavement has been replaced with a standard gray.

Here’s a look back at the “old” look, which is still in place in certain sections, followed by a look at the new look for the Transportation & Ticket Center ticket booth areas. Note that the ticket booths themselves weren’t changed during the work, just the pavement around them (and, by extension, the railings).

And here’s a look at the refurbished area. It’s possible that railings could return in the future, but there are currently temporary queues set up for now. Hopefully, this isn’t the final look for the area (no permanent railings), but it would be consistent with what Disney is doing at EPCOT right now.

Here’s a look at the split between new (left) and old (right).

The next section to be converted to the new look is the far right side of the ticket booths. The middle section will be saved for last.

Somewhat interestingly, the back side of the ticket booths still has some of the old pavement theming still in place. I’m assuming that will be changed in the coming months.

  1. I don’t give a shizbit about anything Disney does anymore. They lost me as a consumer about 15 years ago. I was 7 years old when Disney World opened in 1971. I remember when it was truly magical. Not this generic, watered down, sterile, corporate, IP crap that they’re pushing now. Not to mention you have to take a second mortgage out on your house to afford a vacation at Disney these days.
No thank you. Sorry Walt, it wasn’t supposed to be like this.
