While visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently, we noticed that the final roadway sign for the shuttered Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser immersive hotel experience had been removed. The sign used to be positioned at the exit to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios parking lot, as seen below. In addition to the roadway signage removal, work on gutting the hotel is continuing. Here’s the latest.
Final Starcruiser Roadway Sign Removed
The sign seen above has been removed, marking the end of roadway signage pointing to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser immersive hotel experience.
The removal of the signage comes a few months after the main Galactic Starcruiser roadway sign was covered. While all roadway signage has been removed, the monolith standing at the hotel’s entrance has not been removed.
Interior Demolition Continues for Galactic Starcruiser
Back in late September, we brought you the news that construction was underway to transform the Galactic Starcruiser into Imagineering offices. Aerial photos gave us confirmation that work was underway inside the hotel.
Since that late September report, we revealed additional information about the work taking place to transform the venue into office space. Last week, we shared new details about the work taking place inside the Galactic Starcruiser as crews worked to gut the building to transform it into office space. In short, it doesn’t sound like much of the Starcruiser will remain once the transformation into offices is complete.
Now, the site is a relative flurry of activity as crews work to continue interior demolition of the once highly themed spaces. Crews were recently spotted removing debris from the rear of the hotel and placing it in the trash containers previously visible in aerial photos.
The former valet parking lot is being used as parking for demolition crews, and we’re told that the entire site very much feels like a construction site.
