A new Walt Disney Imagineering display isn’t the only thing catching guests’ attention at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Mary Poppins’ iconic Jolly Holiday dress has returned to the lobby outside of the Walt Disney Theater toward the end of the walk-through exhibit. Technically, the dress on display is a “faithful reproduction” of the very fragile screen-used dress that is housed in the Walt Disney Archives permanent collection. Here’s a look!
Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday Dress Returns to Hollywood Studios
The dress seen below has been on display before in the Walt Disney Presents attraction. The dress was certainly there in 2018, but I can’t remember if has been on display since then. Either way, it is a “new” addition to Walt Disney Presents, having arrived just before the Walt Disney Imagineering preview opened on Friday. We spotted the dress on Thursday, October 9th. Here’s a look!
This “Jolly Holiday” dress is the finishing touch to Julie Andrews’ delightful scene with dancing penguins and an escaped carousel horse. Andrews brought P. L. Travers’ character Mary Poppins to life in Walt Disney’s film, singing the Sherman Brothers’ “Jolly Holiday” with Bert (Dick Van Dyke) and a barn yard of animals.
The original dress is housed in the Walt Disney Archives permanent collection because of its fragile state, thus we have had this faithful reproduction created to preserve the original.
Guests can actually meet Mary Poppins at Disney’s Hollywood Studios right now, and she’s in a version of this Jolly Holiday dress.
