FIRST LOOK: Concrete Pours Begin for Cars Frontierland Expansion Project at Magic Kingdom

|

Good morning from Magic Kingdom, where we’ve spotted the first caravan of concrete mixer trucks! The trucks can be spotted making their way through the former Rivers of America riverbed to a site along the southern edge of the upcoming Piston Peak National Park. It’s here where the project just hit a major milestone – the first concrete pours!

Concrete Pours Begin for Piston Peak National Park

From what we could tell, there are more than a dozen concrete mixer trucks involved in today’s concrete pour. They enter the construction site one or two at a time, delivering concrete to the concrete boom pump. The concrete boom pump is then navigated to the concrete forms for the concrete pour. This marks the first concrete pour for the Piston Peak National Park project.

To get a better idea of where this pour is taking place, we turn to aerial photos from Bioreconstruct, showing the concrete forms along the southern perimeter of the project. We were the first to report on these concrete forms more than a month ago. As we predicted, it looks like the concrete forms are for the stream that will run along the Frontierland boardwalk. It’s likely that this early work is for a retaining wall along the northern edge of the stream.

Back to our visit to Magic Kingdom this morning, here are some photos of the work taking place, including the concrete boom pump just on the other side of the Frontierland boardwalk construction walls.

And a sneak peek at the work shows that concrete has already been poured this morning as crews work on forming what appears to be a retaining wall for the stream that will run from near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad toward the Liberty Square area.
