Good afternoon from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where work continues at an impressive pace since Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed earlier this month. Scaffolding covers the massive 40-foot-tall guitar and repainting is already taking place for the stretch limo that is suspended over guests heads as they enter the G-Force Records courtyard. We take a look at the latest progress on the retheme, including a quick turnaround target for the Walt Disney Imagineering team.
Imagineering Targets Quick Turnaround for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
Imagineering doesn’t want the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster retheme to drag on. That much should’ve been clear once they closed the pre-show area more than 3 months before the attraction was set to officially close. Now, quick work on the exterior of the attraction leads us to believe that Imagineering is looking at the start of Summer for a reopening, not the end of Summer. Officially, all Walt Disney World has announced is a Summer reopening timeframe.
A quick turnaround makes sense, too. The pre-show will require the most amount of work, with the introduction of new Audio-Animatronics. The rest of the ride will, basically, receive some new paint. There are no expected changes to the roller coaster track layout or experience.
Let’s take a look around the exterior of the attraction. So far, the stretch limo above guests’ heads is getting a new paint job to add flames to the car’s body. Beyond that, the 40-foot-tall Fender Stratocaster guitar is just about fully behind scrims. We expect that crews will begin repainting the guitar soon, if work hasn’t already started out of sight.
The Electric Mayhem are headlining their biggest Hollywood concert ever! Anyone who’s anyone is in attendance to witness Animal, Dr. Teeth, and the rest of this groove-tastic group rock the house down. There’s just one little problem: the band is nowhere to be found!
Across town at G-Force Records, we’re treated to a VIP tour of the legendary rock and roll recording studio. Things might look a little different around this Hollywood institution, as the label has recently come under new management – The Muppets! We’re happy to say that our colorful crew has landed some new digs… with just a little help from Scooter’s uncle, real estate tycoon and owner of the Muppet Theatre, J.P. Grosse (he really puts the G in G-Force). Just wait until you see how they’ve made these hallowed halls their own, creating the perfect place to make sweet, sweet Muppet music together!

How about another muppet ride on muppet treasure Island boat ride?
While I am excited for Muppets rock and rollercoaster ride. There’s a Muppets ride I really wish Disney world imagineers would build. How about they build a muppet treasure Island boat ride based on the 1996 film muppet treasure Island and similar to pirates of the Caribbean ride. We could have both human and muppet animatronic characters including Jim Hawkins, Billy Bones, Long John silver Tim Curry look alike. I want to see Kermit the frog as Smollett, Miss Piggy as Benjamina Gunn, Sam the eagles as Mr arrow, Gonzo and Rizzo the rat and the other muppet pirates singing us songs including sailing for adventure, cabin fever, professional pirate, love led us here as we guests go on a journey boat ride to find treasure Island. Before we exit the ride Long John silver waves us guests goodbye. And maybe the Reggae song love power can play in the queue.
I really want another muppet ride. I would like it if they could turn Tom Sawyer island at Disneyland into muppet treasure Island boat ride. But keep the steamboat. I also want to see Tianas Bayou Adventure ride get updated with more animal animatronic characters spoonbill birds, lady butterflies and more Bayou critters be included in the ride.
