A new update is available for the My Disney Experience app, bringing a new search results screen along with it. The new screen creates more card-like results, highlighting the individual results a bit more. Here’s a look at the updates, along with our thoughts on the change.
New Search Results Screen for My Disney Experience
Here’s a before/after of the search results screen. The top two screenshots are of the “old” user interface. The bottom two screenshots are of the new search flow user interface. As you can see, there is more emphasis on the image attached to the result, as well as fewer results per viewable area.
The updated search results screen is part of the 8.19.0 version of the My Disney Experience app.
Here’s another look at the search results flow. It’s important to note that this is a visual update. The actual results are the same or very similar to before. In my opinion, search is one of the biggest areas that can be improved in the My Disney Experience app (if we’re not going to fix Park Pass Reservations).
More specifically, search results and accuracy are where I’m hoping Disney can make improvements. In the example below, I want to search for “roller coaster”. I would think that’s a pretty common term for guests visiting a theme park. While the autofill results are just ok, the actual results page goes downhill quite quickly. Hopefully, the visual update is just the start of updates being made to the search experience on the app.
