It’s official: Frozen themed ride to replace Maelstrom (and even more Frozen in the parks)

    Epcot

Today, Disney announced that a ‘Frozen’ themed attraction will be replacing Maelstrom at Epcot. While a date hasn’t been confirmed, we’ve heard that it’ll close the first or second week of October, with most rumors pointing to October 7th.

Maelstrom’s last operating date will be October 5th.

In addition to the ride being overhauled, Anna and Elsa will also be available for a Meet and Greet in the Norway pavilion. The Norway pavilion will remain open during construction, which is expected to be completed in 2016.

    Hollywood Studios

Over at Hollywood Studios, Frozen Summer Fun will continue past the September 28th deadline as we reported earlier. Favorite elements of Frozen Summer Fun are being extended at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including “For the First Time in Forever: A ‘Frozen’ Sing-Along Celebration.” The sing-along will be filling the space of the old American Idol experience building. Also, Wandering Oaken’s will move to a location closer to the sing-along through the holiday season, featuring a larger-than-ever play area with real snow.

    Magic Kingdom

Frozen will also be coming to the Magic Kingdom soon. In addition to the ongoing character appearances, Queen Elsa will use her powers to transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace every night starting in early November. And Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party-goers can see Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf in “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.” Guests will be able to see Kristoff and Olaf in the Christmas parade and the nightly castle lighting show at Magic Kingdom Park, but they are not available for individual character greetings at this time. Anna and Elsa continue to greet Guests daily at Princess Fairytale Hall in Fantasyland.
