Astro Orbiter Closed for Unplanned Maintenance Until August 15th

Astro Orbiter has been closed for about a week now, as Disney performs unplanned maintenance on the attraction. This marks the second time in as many months that an attraction has been closed for unplanned maintenance. As you may know, Primeval Whirl at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been closed since mid-June.

As far as Astro Orbiter is concerned, Disney expects to reopen the attraction on August 15th, if more complications don’t arise.

Astro Orbiter is a spinner-type attraction located in Tomorrowland. Guests can climb aboard a two-person spaceship and pilot it as they spin around the planets high above Tomorrowland. The attraction is located on top of the Tomorrowland PeopleMover, requiring guests to take an elevator to the top of the platform to enjoy the attraction.

Cast Members working the attraction were unaware of the specific issues plaguing the Astro Orbiter, but were hopeful that it would be running again on August 15th.

Other work ongoing in Tomorrowland include the construction of the highly anticipated Tron roller coaster, a new paint scheme, and the re-imagining of the Tomorrowland entrance sign.
