Complete Demolition of Innoventions West Imminent at Epcot

|

It seems like Innoventions West might not see the new year, depending on how aggressive Disney wants to get through Christmas week. While visiting Epcot recently, we noticed that the last bit of paneling has been removed from the Innoventions West staircase that use to lead to the roof and tunnels. This was likely one of the more complex parts of the building, which could have been why it was saved for last. Either way, the building is now a steel skeleton, with only a small section of glass standing where the hallway behind Club Cool use to be and by the breezeway which is still used by guests. It’ll be interesting to see if Disney is able to proceed with the demolition while a part of the structure is still connected to the northwest portion of the building that is still being used as a Character Spot meet and greet area, temporarily. Here’s a look around the area, from the ground and from an elevated perspective onboard the monorail.

A little bit of old and new in the photo below, with the gigantic Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind building in the background.

A look at the reverse side of the glass still in place as one side of the breezeway still in use by guests.
