With today’s announcement that the Disneyland theme parks have proposed a July 17th reopening date, it’s important to note that this date still needs to be cleared by the government.
Of course, government approval is likely a formality, like what we saw with Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. That said, Disney still needs to prove that they will be a responsible business partner with the government and medical community as they prove that they can operate a safe environment.
Through various announcements, the Walt Disney Company has already proved to one governmental body in Florida that they can operate in a safe manner and that they have protocols and procedures in place to ensure as much social distancing as possible in a large venue.
Following the announcement from Disneyland, Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu released the following statement, backing the proposed plan by Disneyland.
Today is a great day for Anaheim. We could see the reopening of Disneyland 65 years to the day from when Walt Disney opened his first theme park in our city.
This is a major milestone in the recovery of Anaheim, California and our nation.
We know Disney will be able to meet the challenge of reopening safely, and Anaheim stands ready to see that happen.
