As Disney continues to adjust it’s plans for EPCOT to reflect the reality of their financial situation, it’s possible that they just tipped their hand as to the removal of a previously announced project. shopDisney released their “World Celebration” collection today, but one notable World Celebration project was missing.
Typically released in a set of four, the World Celebration collection only had three posters available for purchase this morning, with the World Celebration Festival Center poster omitted from the release despite being a huge part of the World Celebration neighborhood plans. Here’s a look at the poster as it sits in The EPCOT Experience.
Disney has previously announced that they will “taking a different approach” to the Festival Center, but they have not said that they are cancelling it outright, at least not yet.
They’re just going to plop a bunch of open air kiosks and “temporary” tents or structures (like the temporary Epcot Starbucks trailer) into the cratered spot where Festival Center was supposed to go and call it a “Festival Fair Center,” landscape around it, and move on for 10-15 years until they add the building back in during another overhaul.
