Disney Confirms End of Run for “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” and “Mickey and the Magical Map”; More Than 200 Actors Laid Off

A new report from the OC Register confirms earlier reports that both Frozen – Live at the Hyperion and Mickey and the Magical Map will be ending at the Disneyland Resort. Disneyland officials confirmed the end of both of the shows due to the ongoing pandemic and uncertainty from the State of California as it relates to theme park reopening guidelines.

The American Guild of Variety Artists West (AVGA West) said that a total of 214 of their union members would be laid off, which is over 70% of their membership and represents a decimated entertainment department at Disneyland. Layoff notices haven’t been sent out just yet the union says.

Steve Rosen, representative for AVGA West, said that while end of run notices like what the performers for Frozen and Map received “technically means that the show has been permanently closed“, Disney has sent end of run notices in the past and then reopened the show.

Disney World, which has been open since July, has only recently brought back A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration which features just a handful of actors who remain maskless and socially distanced throughout the show.
