Top 5 Best Bites at Connections Eatery in EPCOT

With EPCOT’s newest quick-service eatery now open, we wanted to take a look at our top 5 offerings to try on your next visit! With Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind nearby and a menu that invites even the most picky of palates, Connections Eatery will be a popular location to grab a bite to eat in EPCOT.

    Liege Waffle – $5.29

Brioche Dough with Pearl Sugar, Strawberries, Whipped Cream, Chocolate Sauce

When we visited, an entire show kitchen was devoted to making these waffles, and for good reason! This may be the best waffle we’ve ever had. The brioche dough was prepared perfectly. There was structure to the waffle, but it immediately gave way to an airy and never soggy interior. The crunch on the outside was extremely subtle but present. The strawberries were fresh and the whipped cream was light.

It’s probably worth noting that we’ve seen a few reports of inconsistency, but we didn’t notice anything off about our waffle. Overall, it’s a really solid dessert and one that we’ll be getting again!

General Tso Chicken Salad – $11.49

Petite Kale Blend, Broccoli Slaw, Red Bell Pepper, Mandarin Oranges, Edamame, Crispy Wontons, Warm Fried Chicken, General Tso’s Dressing

Speaking of winners, let’s keep the good eats rolling with the General Tso Chicken Salad. A massive portion of salad is topped with three of the best chicken tenders we’ve ever had – let alone at Disney World.

Earlier in this review, we talked about how Connections Cafe should lean in a bit more on their chicken dishes. This is a prime example of that. We loved what the kitchen did with the chicken sandwich in our earlier review, and the chefs outperformed expectations with this salad too. We’d love to see Disney offer more chicken dishes at Connections Eatery and allow the kitchen to run wild because even with misses in the burger and pizza department, the chicken did not disappoint.

    Southwestern Burger – $12.99

Gourmet Beef Blend, Roasted Corn-Chipotle Salsa, Oaxaca Cheese Crema, Chamoy, Guacamole Spread, Toasted Bun

With a well-deserved 5-star rating, the Southwestern Burger does everything right. Most of the ingredients on the other burgers would be justified in being called “fresh”, but everything on the Southwestern Burger was exceptionally fresh.

This thing is packed with flavor, and the photo below probably answers why that’s the case. On top, you have the most of the ingredients and spreads, but Disney wisely places the burger on top of the chamoy sauce to ensure that the patty is surrounded by flavor. The roasted corn-chipotle salsa and Oaxaca cheese crema are a wonderful pairing that keeps things light while also adding excellent flavor and texture.

One of our criteria for a 5-star review is: will we order it again when not reviewing? Not only will we order this again, but it might even take precedence over the exhausting walk to the back of EPCOT and Regal Eagle.

    Curry Spice Pizza – $10.99

Tikka Masala, Carrot, Potato, Peas, Tomato, Plant-based Mozzarella, Lime “Yogurt”, served with Mediterranean Side Salad

Excitement. Flavor. Risk. We came into this review expecting very little from a plant-based pizza, but the Curry Spice Pizza really blew us away!

The earthy, slightly spicy Tikka Masala was balanced wonderfully with the lime “yogurt”. Everything here was fresh and colorful. We’ll definitely be ordering this again and the only reason we took off a half-star was for the early unmanageable crust. It was soft and completely unstructured, requiring a knife and fork to eat. If the kitchen can figure out a way to add some structure to this pizza, we have a surprising winner on our hands.

    Hand-breaded Chicken Sandwich – $11.99

House-made Pickles, Signature Sauce, Toasted Brioche Bun

Hiding at the bottom of the menu is an excellent chicken sandwich! At the risk of tipping our hand when it comes to our continued reviews of Connections Eatery, we’ll soon form the opinion that chicken might be the single offering that they excel at most.

Back to the chicken at hand, we find ourselves with a generous portion of chicken not unlike what you might find at Chick-Fil-A…only bigger.

American Classic Burger – $11.99 (Honorable Mention)

Gourmet Beef Blend, Lettuce, Pickle, Tomato, Cheddar, Roasted Garlic Spread, Toasted Bun

It’s a classic. More than any other burger, the gourmet beef blend was the star here. A wonderfully presented classic, the bun was toasted but forgivingly soft.

The roasted garlic spread was a winner here and a welcome deviation from “classic”. If it wasn’t for the Southwest or Chicken (spoiler alert), this would be top of the list for us. It sounds weird to have a “basic” burger as one of the top choices, but the execution here was wonderful and those looking for a standard burger will be pleasantly surprised with this offering.
