EPCOT Gardens Still Dirt, Construction Begins for CommuniCore Hall

As we continue our look at the “spine” of EPCOT, we’ll shift our focus away from “Project Birdseed” and towards the middle of World Celebration.

As a reminder, here’s what World Celebration will look like when completed. Starting at Spaceship Earth and working clockwise, we see the semi-circle building to the right is Connections Cafe & Eatery from “1 o’clock to 3 o’clock”. From “3 o’clock to 5 o’clock” we have Creations Shop. Both of those venues are open and accessible to guests. From “7 o’clock to 9 o’clock” we have CommuniCore Hall which will house a variety of offerings. Finally, from ” 9 o’clock to 11 o’clock” we have Moana – Journey of Water.

In this update, we’re going to focus on CommuniCore Hall as well as the central area called the EPCOT Gardens.

We’ll start with the EPCOT Gardens, which is largely a pile of dirt from what we can see aboard the monorail.

It’s hard to imagine a world where this area is completed in time for EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary on October 1, 2022 – although that was likely the plan years ago.

Shifting our attention to the southwest of the site, we can see some work being done on what appears to be a footer for the CommuniCore Hall structure. Here’s an imperfect panorama of the area.
